Gun Central

Who knew?

It seems Liuzhou is (or was) the centre of an international arms network.

58 people across China have been arrested including an unspecified number of foreigners.

The gang is understood to have bought gun parts from overseas suppliers and trafficked them around China using courier services. Shenzhen, in Guangdong province, was identified as the main point of entry, while Liuzhou, in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, was the principal distribution hub.

The gang leader, who has only been identified as a 30-year-old man surnamed Wu*, and three accomplices were arrested in a weapons storage facility in Liuzhou on April 18.

Wu squealed the details of all his customers and authorities say most, if not all, illegal weapons have been recovered.

He has pleaded guilty at a trial, but no news of his sentencing has yet been released, nor does there seem to be anything on the other 57 varieties of people arrested.

Any suggestion in the news of the purpose the guns were intended to serve? Popular uprising versus small gang drug-running versus human-trafficking intimidation? Serveral dozen people arrested; how many guns confiscated? Country of origin: Russian? Israeli? So many intriguing questions!

The reports so far, and they are unlikely to be expanded upon, do not answer your questions apart from the number of guns so far retrieved – 55, along with various other weapons including grenades, ammunition etc. Police are still investigating

I would be extremely surprised if it had anything to do with any intended “popular uprising”. And the media would never report it if it were.

This selection is definitely the stuff of intimidation and criminal activity . Not the choice for popular or unpopular risings !
Probably apocryphal and only gossip of course but I’ve been told a couple of times about weapons in hiding around Liuzhou/China . Well , I guess the place was awash at one time or another .
