Free Drinks Tonight

expat26barSorry for the extremely short notice, but tonight (January 11th), the Radisson Blu hotel is holding a free promotional evening for their “Expats Night @ 26 Bar”.

They intend making this a monthly event with wine, beers, soft drinks etc at 99元 per person (net price – whatever they mean by that). The events will be on the second Wednesday each month, from 7 to 9 pm. Not exactly what I call a night. In fact, I’d be looking to start my night of drinking at 9, not finishing. Which is probably what they are gambling on.

Anyway, the opening night, tonight, will be free. Unfortunately, I can’t make it, so be sure to drink my share for me.

Radisson Blu Hotel (丽笙酒店 lì shēng jiǔ diàn) on the corner of Guizhong Avenue (桂中大道) and Wenchang Road (文昌路). The bar is, unsurprisingly, on the 26th floor.

I had to look this up when translating stuff for the hospitality industry in china — apparently ‘net’ (or, occasionally, ‘nett’) means that there isn’t a service charge on top of the price.

I think it means exactly the opposite. ‘Net’ or ‘nett’ is the price before extras such as taxes, services charges etc are added. The full price including extras is the ‘gross’ price. I take it to mean that what you will actually have to pay is more than 99元.
