Fake money

Guangxi authorities have issued a warning about fake 100 yuan bills being circulated. These are particularly high quality – complete with watermarks, wire strips etc.

The give away is the serial numbers. The fake bills are numbered LN37638309, LN37638313 and LN37638302.

So, check those numbers. Also be sure when you hand a 100 yuan bill to a taxi driver that you read out the number (in Chinese) before handing it over. This prevents them from switching it for another (fake) note which they hand back claiming they have no change.

That said, I have never been cheated by a Liuzhou taxi driver in the 15 years I have been using them – and I use them a lot. I’m lazy.
