Random thoughts on life in Liuzhou, Guangxi, China

New Home

Welcome to the relocated Liuzhou Laowai blog.

Old readers will know that this blog spent seven years on Blog-City. That hosting company plan to terminate their blog service in December 2011, so here we are at a new home. Almost 900 entries on the old site have been checked and transferred. Where pictures were lost, they have been replaced. Expired links have been removed. I’m fairly sure there are a few errors. If you spot any please let me know via the comments area.

If you have been kind enough to link to the old site in the past, please consider updating. Also don’t forget your bookmarks. To keep up to date, you may wish to subscribe using the RSS feed links at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can be notified of new entries by email, by registering through the box on the right of the screen. (I will never never use your email address for anything else, or give it to anyone else.)

Unfortunately, old comments have not been transferred. Thanks to all who provided enlightenment, wit and support through the many remarks.

Now we are here, I look forward to several more years reporting on the mayhem, madness, joy and jubilation of life in Liuzhou.

Many thanks

Liuzhou Laowai

P.S. Translation of billboard in comments.

I wonder if you’d translate the billboard message for me ?

  4. Liuzhou Laowai Says:

I will translate and explain the background to the billboard soon. For the moment, it is a kind of an in-joke to amuse a friend.

Very impolite I know, but she is pretty!

Thirty five years ago a young writer named Armistead Maupin started to chronicle the various lifestyles of the people of San Francisco.
In those days there was no internet, but his weekly column ‘Tales of the City’ began to appear in a little Marin county newspaper which gained momentum, and became a weekly staple in the San Francisco Chronicle where as a young lad I once freelanced in their news photo dept.
Mr Maupin later compiled his stories into novels, which Hollywood purchased and later produced as a TV series.

So with those thoughts in mind.
When’s your book going to be published?
    Good luck!

The sign is a slightly altered version of a sign on every table in Babel, a western style restaurant in Nanning.
