Random thoughts on life in Liuzhou, Guangxi, China

Death’s silence was profound

More unfathomable press reports (or lack of).

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Liuzhou vice-mayor, Lu Yipeng was killed in a car accident on the Nanning – Beihai expressway, when the car he was travelling in ran into two trucks which had previously collided. In total, four people died: Lu, an official from Beihai government, the driver of one of the trucks and his passenger.

Although Xinhua did carry the story, for some reason I can’t fathom, so far, there has been no mention in any of the local Liuzhou press or television.

Even local news portal which  usually guaranteed to supply endless stories of local death and destruction (they specialise in murder and suicide attempts), has remained silent.

No doubt, overcome with grief.
